Medical Examiner 2023

This guide will show how to create a medical examiner report in preparation for GP review.

1. Admin Support

1.1. Mail Merge ME Report

Create new letter
Select sender and recipient
Address Book
Add to Favourite

You can add this as a favourite contact for future ease. However note that this appears at the top of the contact list.

All the relevant contact details and correct letter are pre-selected

1.2. Support Team Section

Please help the GP team by ensuring the information sections highlighted RED are filled in.

Suppor team

A lot of the information is mail merged. (NB no NHS number as this is Mickey Mouse, test patient). Fill in the following (RED Highlight):

  • Last occupation
  • Date and Time of death, and person verifying death
  • Next of Kin (NoK details)
  • Also speak to NoK to ask about any other information relating to the death.
2. GP Section

Check the RED sections have been filled in by admin team.

Fill in the highlighted sections in BLUE.

GP will fill in the areas marked BLUE, and double check the other info provided by support team

3. AccuMail

accuRx Toolbar

On the AccuRx toolbar click on '@' to send an AccuMail.

Click on email referral document

  1. Search for our local medical examiner email - this should autocomplete.
  2. This is our local medical examiner address.
  3. A simple message detailing the referral is all that is required.
  4. Attach the ME referral form.

Mark as urgent

Everything is now ready to send. Mark the email as urgent.

Ensure that it is saved to the record, and then send.

4. ME response

Toolbar

Once the Medical Examiner responds, this will show up in the AccuRx Toolbar

Save to Record

Save the response from the ME to the record, and 'mark as done'

Mark as Done
Patient Record

You can now issue the death certificate and send to the relevant Registrar.
